New Believer's Corner

Godly principles that will help you become a rock-solid Christian in your beginning walk with God.

If you follow these principles in your beginning walk with God, they will help you grow strong in your faith.

  1. Read the Bible every day (morning, noon and night) if at all possible. Read at least ten Bible chapters a day.
  2. Start with the Gospels. Read the Gospel of John in the New Testament first, then the books of Mark, Luke and Matthew. I suggest that you read them all three times each, then read Matthew to Revelation. You can then start reading from the Old Testament, starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation. This doesn’t mean that you read them all at one time—just ten chapters a day.
  3. Develop a strong prayer life by trying to pray two hours a day consistently: one hour in the morning and one before bedtime. This should consist of worshiping and praising God, intercessory prayer (praying for others), and lastly your personal needs. Learn about fasting before God as a Christian. (Extremely powerful!) Always end your prayer with “In Jesus’ Name.” You will find this in the Gospel of John.
  4. Attend a Bible-believing church that also believes in healing and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Get baptized in water. I did so three times!
  5. Pay tithes—10% of your earnings—to God. You may have to grow into this, but I cannot over-emphasize the tremendous blessings that will come to you by doing so! My family and I have been blessed beyond our wildest imagination. We couldn’t live without doing so! Notice that God speaks not only of tithes, but also offerings. You give these through the church that you attend.
  6. Change your old habits by socializing with Christians more and non-Christians less. Watch and listen to Christian programming more and secular programming less. Stay away from the people and things that may tempt you to do wrong. And confess your sins to God as they happen, or daily!
  7. Tell others about Christ and how He changed your life. People are hungry for God, and you can help them live a better life here on earth and save them from eternal damnation.

What God says about tithes

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8

But here is the best part. This is what He says in the very next verses:

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10
